Student Loans Without Cosigner
Student loans without cosigner are vital for those students who need to pay for college and don’t have anyone to cosign for their student loans.
However, there are a couple things you should know about student loans with cosigner. In most cases, you won’t be given a large loan because the risk you present ( a no cosigner student loan generally has no credit check). Getting a student loan without a cosigner can be very important sometimes, maybe even absolutely necessary. For example, you may not have a cosigner to cosign your student loan for you, or maybe you do not feel comfortable having someone else put themselves at financial risk. Remember, a cosigner will be responsible if you default on your loan.
If you are a student looking to pay for college, you basically have two options to choose from to help pay for university. The first option, and arguably the best, is to get free money for college in the form of student scholarships and grants. Scholarships are given out to students on the basis of merit through high grades or some other exemplary criteria. The problem with scholarships is that you really have to stand out from the pack to have a chance of qualifying for one – average students (and face it, most people are average) won’t get one.
This leaves students who want to get financial aid one other option: student grants, which are considered student financial aid – not merit — and given out on the basis of need.
Now the other option, and the option that most student will need to take is to get a student loan. There are basically two types of student loans: federal student loans and private student loans. Federal student loans, such as the Stafford Loan. The other option is to seek out private student loans.
Now if you are trying to find student loans with cosigner, it’s certainly possible. The federal government’s loan program offers student loans with no cosigner. Specifically, the Stafford Federal loan does not require any cosigner. This is probably your best bet. Keep in mind that there are other financial aid programs from the government such as the Pell Grant which are given out without the need to pay back or any sort of cosigning.
Quite often many students find themselves unable to receive a federal student loan or if they do qualify for one, receive a loan amount that is not enough to cover the cost of their tuition. If they are unable to work to make up the difference or family cannot contribute, students who need a no cosigner student loan will have difficulties.
In this case, a student will have to find a private student loan without cosigner. The problem is that most students have no credit or bad credit. Private student loans usually require a cosigner because the lenders use credit history as the key criteria for lending. There are some loans like the Signature student loan that require a cosigner, but after a year of repaying the loan without missed payments, the cosigner is removed from the contract. Getting a private student loan can actually be an advantage for a student who has good credit, since you can secure better interest rates over the federal student loans.
If you want to get a no cosigner student loan with bad credit, your options will be limited to either the Stafford Loan or finding a bad credit student loan lender to give you a bad credit student loan. Bad credit will usually mean you need a cosigner if you look at private student loan lenders, but there are some online lenders out there that will give out poor credit student loans without a cosigner.
In general, you should look around online and check out the private student loan offers you spot. As stated, it’s possible that you can find private student loans without cosigner, though you may have to pay a higher interest rate for the privilege. Regardless, you won’t know unless you try and doing as much research online as possible about this issue is vital. So be thorough in your research and look online for student loan information and offers.
